Selecting Niche Website
Finding a niche when making a website is the most effective way to create a successful website. This is simply because of the following 2 reasons:
- The intensity of related keywords within your website naturally ranks your niche website higher in search engines compared to websites that are focusing on more general topics.
- The visitors will find the site to be relevant to their interest, and make them likely to subscribe or make a purchase of the products you recommend (as its relevant).
So, what are the steps to finding a suitable niche?
The first step I always recommend, is starting a niche on a topic you are passionate about; because you will need a lot of energy to write and to create digital products for the niche – it is ideal if you love the topic and are willing to do it even for free!
For example, if you are a house painter – you can create a website on how to paint a house; as this is already your specialty, it would not be a stretch to create tutorials and products based on that. You will become an authority figure for this niche.
On top of that, you can recommend and make money from the products you know are the best in your industry, and earn affiliate commissions from that.
Once you have a list of possible ideas of what niche to get into – use a free keyword research tool to see how many people are actually searching for topics in your niche area (this can also help in selecting a domain name for your niche).
If your not sure what your passions are, then it is a good idea to join different clubs and explore what you like doing. For example, if you have always been interested in football, you can join a football club, and learn whilst you gather the experience.
Another way to find a niche is to look back on your life, and think of the times when you had to do any kind of research before making a purchase of a product, or deciding where to go on vacation.
For example, if you lived in England, and moved your home to Spain; that is an experience others might be interested in knowing about. How you found a house, what areas are safe, paying bills, renting or buying a car, visa requirements for different nationalities, tax, finding a job and a whole lot more!
You can recommend areas to live in, likely mistakes that can be easily avoided, and write up a whole guide and sell it on your website; but of course, make sure to provide enough free content, so readers can see that you can provide value consistently.
